Together With Tory, Cybersquatters and Other Hacks
NOTICE: It has been brought to our attention that Grassroots PC has this blog listed as a link. In life, you are often judged by the company you keep. So, I'm curious as to the kind of people John Tory has in his leadership revival camp.
Yesterday, I got a wonderful e-mail from the good folks at the John Tory Fan Club. They were trumpeting a new website, Together With Tory, which talks all about the myriad of support he has fromcaucus members, staff and party hacks supporters. Great. It's good to see them sweat.
However, when I did a WHOIS search on the domain, as I'm wont to do, the following came up:

I really dislike cybersquatters. They are like the extortionists of the information superhighway. But I'm SURE Mr. Barnes was just holding it to make sure dastardly Liberals didn't get it first. Which is why Mr. Barnes still owns it, right? Of course it is.
Secondly, I'm curious as to how the good folk at Together With Tory actually GOT my e-mail address. The Party Constitution has very strict rules on who can access the central membership lists and for what purpose.
What lists are they using? How did they get access to them? Is it from Frank Klees' leadership campaign? If so, that's a big no no. As none of the three (John Capobianco, Frank Klees and Graham Fox) are Party officials or work directly for the Leader (as John C keeps telling us), then how did this "unofficial" effort get access to Party membership lists? Hmmmmm?
Some interesting questions to be sure. I guess the point of this post is that the pro-Tory people conduct themselves with this air of righteousness. Like they are doing the Party a valuable service. Maybe they are.
But their tactics are hackery in the highest order. We all know that they are working with HQ people to make sure that information on DSM's is limited and not circulated in a timely fashion. I have met Party member after Party member who has told me they didn't receive notice for their riding DSM and will not be attending the AGM. This scorched earth policy (a TM special if I've ever seen one) may win the battle, but it will lose the war. I will try to look surprised when I hear them moaning in 2011 that they can't find anyone to help them on the ground.
So, good luck with your quest, guys. Although you may be inheriting a "poisoned chalice." Now, where have a heard that phrase before....? Right. That's where.

John Tory's Letter was absolutely horrible. Only now after taking heat for 2 weeks in the media does he come out and say that he accepts responsibility.
The longer he hangs on, the wrose it is going to get for him.
Just yesterday he said that he would stay on as leader if he only got 50% plus 1 vote. Today he is pretending to have listenend.
If he was listening, then why can't people renew their memberships online at the party's website?
If he was listening then why are delegate selection meetings being quietly and quickly organized with specific memembers being left out of the loop?
If he was listening why can I get more information about the upcoming convention from a 3rd party website than the party website?
He's running scared - and he should be. Ashamed and on his hands and knees begging we don't kick him out of the party is where he should be.
He was a total egomaniac. Everything was about him and had nothing to do with this party or its members.
Last week he telling the media that he has the support of the "vast majority" and this week he says that he only needs 50% to stay on as leader.
It's embarrassing.
Whast is it going to take to get this guy to resign and not drag this party through the mud for the next 2 months?

I think Mr. Barnes actually was trying to help them out by buying it.

Oh just suck it up. When Harris ran roughshod over the ridings and calling everyone that did not agree with him roadkill, I did not hear your cackling. Now that the tables are turned on your right-wing jackasses, you don't like it.

Ah, yes. Another anonymous douchebag making snarky comments. Cool. Well, your pearl of wisdom left me with a thoughts/questions:
1. When you say "you didn't hear my cackling" you mean this blog, it wasn't around under Harris, so it was understandably silent.
2. If you mean me personally, I never liked the heavyhanded tactics of PCHQ or the Fund. However, Harris actually WON elections.
3. Sorry to break this to you, but the same people running roughshod over the ridings are the same peope who were doing it under Harris.
4. I'll flip the question to you: where where you when Harris was apparently "crushing" you? I didn't hear your whining when we were winning majority govenments and improving the province. At least I'm making my concerns known. I can't say the same for you.
And finally, as I pointed out in my original post, its not tough for me. It'll be much tougher for Tory and/or you.
You seem to think its "your turn" (to do, what I'm not sure. Run the Party? Become a staffer? Sit on the Executive?) Great. More power to you. But the more elitist you become (I think your there already) the less likely people will be around to help.
What do I care? I'll have more weekends, nights and holidays to spend with my family, make money or just enjoy. Yeah, its a real downside for me.
